Lori is not only a graceful & soul surfer, she also has a passionate side for sustainability, which she applies to her design talents...

Name: Lorianna Sacha Bland
Date of Birth: May 18, 1995

Home Break: Honestly, I have been surfing properly for about a year and a half now and since then have surfed in Morocco, Indo, Mauritius, California, Uk and Portugal and not once have I surfed in Kenya, which is my actual home. The closest thing I have to a home break is Bingin in Bali, having surfed there the majority of my surfing 'life'.

When we first saw Lori surf, we couldn't help to see how graceful she is in the water. When we heard that she has only been surfing for less than two days years and her devotion for art and sustainability β€” she got our attention.

Well, the rest of this story goes without saying, we are so stoked to see her join the FLKLR Ohana.

What's your FLKLR?

I was born in Mombasa in Kenya and since I can remember I have lived in the ocean. My parents ran water-sports centers and my dad was a former world champ in windsurfing, so growing up in the ocean was a given. In later life, I went to school and uni in England, but those years were quite a struggle being so far away from the ocean... and it was then i knew i would never be able to live somewhere again which didn't allow me to be in it everyday. Although I had a water-sports background, there was something about surfing that called to me, that it was just you, the board and the wave, and the way people danced and move which such style on the wave, it was all I craved and fantasized about doing. The day I finished uni, I made it my mission to make it happen, so a week later I moved to Australia and then Bali.

I would never be able to go back to a life without it, nor would I know how to. Surfing motivates me to be better, it teaches me to be patient, to persevere and heals me everyday. Each time I surf, I am reminded to face my fears in day to day life, to do things with grace and finesse, to not care what people think and to be healthy and strong for the ocean. I haven't been in the game long but I am stoked on where I am at and I can't wait to keep learning and growing in it, because it's the god damn greatest gift I have ever given myself.

Who's style do you admire the most?

Karina Rozunko, Josie Prendergast and Torren Martyn.

What inspires you?

My dad. He is the most incredible waterman I know, and has a freakish ability to be great at whatever he does in and out of the ocean. I am forever inspired by his drive, his strength and his love for me everyday. We are both kinda old souls and share a love for the ocean and Africa so no matter what I have wanted to do, he has supported it. He is my hero and inspiration in every way.

No sunscreen or Underwear?

Definitely no underwear, because firstly I don't want to look like a leather bag when I get older and secondly no underwear feels great.
